Based on the recently installed three station network of the world's first multiparameter borehole observatory, GaiaCode is introducing a completely new product line of instruments for the measurement of a multitude of geophysical parameters. Starting in January 2026 we will augment our current successful product lines of seismometers (ALPHA, THETA and PICO) and accelerometers (SIGMA) with a new fleet of instruments, ranging from dilatometers, infrasound sensors, strainmeters to tiltmeters. All these sensors were developed in-house.
Some of the instruments are based on new technologies like applying a feedback loop to improve bandwidth, linearity and stability of infrasound sensors. Others use well known, but hitherto mostly ignored capabilities of seismometers to measure tilt with high precision and dynamic range.
Although the products are new, we are keeping our well established nomenclature for GaiaCode's current sensors. Tiltmeters will be available under the product name ALPHA-Tilt, infrasound sensors will be labelled as LAMBDA, the multicomponent strainmeters will be named GAMMA and Dilatometers/Bulkstrainmeters will be available as the EPSILON product line.

Because of their modular design, the new instrumentation will be offered in a wide range of combinations and enclosures. Depending on their intended purposes, they can be packaged for use in vaults, postholes or in boreholes. Similar to the multiparameter geophysical borehole observatories recently installed in Türkiye, several different sensors can be installed into a single borehole tool. GaiaCode has been using this method already, when combining ALPHA seismometers and SIGMA accelerometers into one cylindrical borehole enclosure.

To ease the integration and compatibility of the data streams of the various new instruments, their respective analogue measurements are being fed into our multichannel TAU digitizers, where they can be stored, analyzed or transmitted in real-time with our versatile OMEGA software tools.
